In February 2009, Steel Magnolias along with Rep. Lea Fite closed a loophole in the breast and cervical cancer act. HB147 Act #2008-320 was passed that helped uninsured breast and cervical cancer patients who qualify financially would be enrolled in the Medicaid Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program.
